The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, made the symbolic delivery of 90,000 school desks to the province of Nampula, on Sunday, September 16th. The wallets were manufactured by Luxoflex Lda, a company whose shareholder is Cláudia Nyussi, the president's daughter. In other words, by making the symbolic delivery of 90,000 wallets in Nampula, President Nyusi was simultaneously representing the State he runs – client – and his daughter Cláudia – supplier of the wallets to the State.
This act inaugurates a new era in Nyusi governance, in which the presidential family becomes directly involved in business with the state, a practice that was already customary in the governance of Armando Guebuza.
