Deputies Elected to the Assembly of the Republic Earned Salaries in Violation of the Public Probity Law

Through an official letter with No. 43/MEF-SP/2020 of 11 February (attached), the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) requested the Office of the Minister for the area in question, in the person of the holder of the body itself, the suspension of the double payment of salaries of some deputies of the Assembly of the Republic (AR) elected for the present legislature. In the same letter, it is stated that payments made under the aforementioned conditions violate paragraph b) of paragraph 1 of article 32 of the Law of Public Probity (LPP), which establishes that the holder of a public body is prohibited "receive remuneration from other public institutions or companies in which the State participates, whether in the form of salary, attendance fees or fees".
