The Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) regularly assesses the performance of each of the member countries as a way of measuring the progress registered by the country with a view to improving transparency and granting the title of complying or not complying with the initiative.
Validation promotes dialogue and learning at the country level and offers countries the opportunity to communicate progress and to identify and address EITI implementation challenges. Validation captures stakeholder views and allows countries to highlight their perspectives on the effectiveness and sustainability of EITI implementation.
