Judicial Costs in Mozambique: A Real Barrier to the Right of Access to Justice

One of the primary purposes of the state, in addition to the security and well-being of its citizens, is justice. The Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique enshrines, in its article 62, to all citizens the right of access to the courts and legal assistance and legal assistance. However, when visiting the Code of Judicial Costs, there is an accumulation of institutions that benefit from the value of court costs, making justice very expensive for most citizens. The constitutional desideratum of legal sponsorship and assistance ends up being relegated, after all, to the secondary level, in favor of a great interest in raising revenue for the coffers of the courts and many others.
