South Africa wants Manuel Chang to remain in South Africa until the matter relating to his extradition is decided, regardless of whether or not the payment of the bond that his lawyers intend to request is accepted. Prosecutor Elivera Dreyer, who represents the South African state in the case, said when questioned by journalists following the interruption of the hearing on Thursday that, “Chang cannot be allowed to return to Mozambique because this country has no extradition agreement with the USA".
