Government May Have Been “Forced” to Pass Regulation on Competition in the Civil Aviation Sector

The Council of Ministers approved at its 14th Ordinary Session, in 2018, the Decree on Competition in air transport services in Mozambique, which will enter into force on the 28th of August 2018. It should be noted that Law no. June, had already created the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority (ARAC) with, among others, the functions of promoting and defending competition in the sector in question. What should be noted is that, before attributing the regulation of matters related to competition to sector regulators, there is already a Competition Regulatory Authority (ARC) created by Law 10/2013 with the function of ensuring compliance competition rules, but after 5 years of its creation it is still not in office.
